Acetate Panel Card

       This card is for the Mix it up Monday challenge at Stamp TV, Going Gingham. Trying out something different today!!  I added an acetate panel to the center of my card so that the inside sentiment would show through.

     I cut an 8 1/2 x 11 to 4.25 x 11.  Scored at 5.5, 7.25 and 9.  The second and third score lines are were you are going to cut out your center panel.  Save your bottom piece when you cut , you will reattach to the acetate panel.  For the acetate panel I cut a 2.5" x 4.25". attach to inside of card bring in 1/2" to adhere to card. Take your bottom panel and reattach bringing in 1/2" to attache.  Whala, you now have an acetate panel card.

    

 





     For my base layer I used pink gingham paper cut a 1 3/4"x 4,25 for my top layer and a 2"x 4.25" for my bottom panel.  Next I cut pattern paper at 1.25 x 4.25 for top panel and 1.75" x 4.25 for bottom.  Ok now we'll do the focal image panel, bottom panel is 3.5" x 1.5" and your top piece is 3.25 x 1.25.

 

     My image is from Gina K "Genevieve Giraffe" set and added a pink gingham bow, isn't she cute?  Now just attache to front of card and stamp your sentiment making sure it shows thru the acetate.

I also decorated the inside to hide where I added the acetate.

Foiling Your Dies

I entered this card in the Gina K Design Stamp TV challenge and have had a few questions on how I add the foil to my embossed die image, so I'm happy to try and help.

To start off you need a laser printer.  I was lucky enough to pick one up on black Friday that scans and prints, it only prints black ink so it was fairly cheap. Place your  dies on your scanner flatbed in the configuration you want them on your card.  So mine was the large rectangle outside and the label die in the center of it (I lay them flat side down) then copy.  I usually copy first onto copy paper to make sure I line them up correctly, if happy print onto card stock.

This photo is not from this card it's from one I did yesterday but it gives you the ideal of how I did it.  Next I take the card stock with the printed die on it and cut it down to the size card or card front that I want. Such as a 11 x 4.75 when folded your card would be 4.75 x 5.5.  Now comes the fun part, select your foil and cut down to cover the copy of the die and place with shiny side up and run through your foiling machine.

I then took my dies and laid them over my foiled image and embossed them. You should now be ready to decorate your card.

Foiling Your SpellBinders

 

     Okay I am going to show you how I foiled my spellbinder and embossed it without cutting. I started out scanning or copying my Spellbinder die and printed it out.  You do need a laser printer for the foiling to work.  A little tip print one out on copy paper first to make sure you have the correct placement. If it looks good print onto cardstock and save your copy paper one as a template for your next one.

 

   

Next cut down your cardstock to a 4.25 x 10 and fold in half. Now we're going to foil and emboss our die.

When I emboss I tape down the die over top the foiled image.

 

My sandwich using the Grand Calibur is base plate, embossing mat, cardstock with foiled image up, lay the die over top the foiled and tape it down so it doesn't shift then add the embossing plate and run thru your machine.

 

Next I took my pattern paper and using the same die I cut out the shape and kept the outer piece.

Attach to card and cut excess paper off.  Now your embossed foiling shows thru with the pattern paper being on the outside of the embossed foiled image.  Decorate center as you want.

Spring Time!!

     I'm so excited that spring is just around the corner! I love it when the colors outside start to awaken and our bones start to thaw. Over at Stamp TV this weeks challenge is also Spring Fever, you are to create a card project using at least three bright and springy colors.

     So for my card I wanted to use this adorable little frog from Gina K stamps "Blooming with Blessings" such a cute image.  I first used my Spectrum Noir Water Color markers and made my blue
water.  Using Memento Tuxedo black I stamped my image, I also stamped the grass and the cattail from the stamp set "Life is Good".  I used my Spectrum Noir to color them in. The sentiment is also from the Blooming with Blessing set. Before layering my cards I added the ribbon to the top layer. For a finishing touch I added glossy accents to the eyes.

     A really simple card made with three colors that remind me of spring. I hope this inspires you to make a spring card!! Thanks for stopping by!!
