Favorite Project of 2011 Challenges

It was nice to see some challenges that wants to show your favorite work from 2011. I have been under the weather since Christmas and today is the first day I've felt like doing anything. I enjoyed going back thru and seeing what all I have created.

I decided my favorite was the birthday card I made for my daughter!! I used purple on it and really wasn't sure about the color, but since it was her favorite color I used it and was really glad I did. Just goes to show you should definitely go outside your comfort Zone and try new things, they may just surprise you. You can see the post for it here.

Will be entering it in to a couple of challenges:

Whimsical Designs "Happy New Year" or "Favorite Projects"

I left a link so head on over and join in on the fun!! Now let's see if I feel like getting a little crafting done. Thanks for stopping by!!

CELEBRATE, CELEBRATE!!

Good afternoon everyone!! I finally think I'm ready for Christmas and got a second to play with some new stamps I got from Mr. Cricut Crazy!! Love them. this is the Birthday, Bithday set. They stamp fantastic and I love the fonts. He is having a giveaway for anyone who buys a stamp set you get entered into the giveaway for an IMAGINE!! Thats right an Imagine, go check it out at Mr. Cricut Crazy.

Ok onto my project, I think I have all my Christmas in order so I decided to do a New Years card. I used Core'Dinations paper, punched the edge with a Martha Stewart punch. I added some gold paper in behind my punch for the border. Then I printed a calendar for 2012 off the computer added Waterfall Stickles around the 1st. Then I stamped my new stamps and embossed them. Love them. Also on the Sentiment it actually says Celebrate it's your Birthday, so I masked the it's your birthday and just stamped the Celebrate twice.

Hope you like it!! Don't forget to check out the giveaway and I want wish everyone Happy and Safe Holidays!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

The Pink Stamper 12 Days of Christmas Challenge

The Pink Stamper is having her 12 days of Christmas, she has challenges, projects, video's and of course Giveaways!! So much fun, her first challenge is - Make a Christmas or Winter project from a Cricut Cartridge that is NOT for the Holidays! Think outside the box. So this leads me to my project. I have seen all these frames at the stores that are already made up but I knew I could make one on my own. I used Paper Studios Christmas Tradition paper pack and cut out my background. I used the Home Accent cartridge and the Cricut Craftroom to design my Family and Snow flake embellishment. Although you can't tell in the photo the family has a shadow done in gold paper like the snow flake. I add three brads in the right corner, and printed my family name with the computer and cut it out with Spell binder dies added a little ribbon and Ta Da I have my frame. It really looks alot better than the photo. I learned it's very hard to take a photo of a photo.

Any how go check out The Pink Stamper she is so talented and a fun crafter. Thanks for stopping by!!

Just Like Frosty I've been gone for Awhile!!

Oh my, it has been quite awhile since I've not only posted but entered my craft room. With out going into a long story sometimes Life just takes us in different directions than we plan. Anyway I'm way behind on all my Christmas crafts so with any luck hopefully I'm back on track now.

This is my first Christmas card of the year and I didn't even use my Cricut, hopefully I haven't forgotten how to operate her.

I used a 2" scallop punch to make my sweet Frosty and free handed the hat and the arms. That adorable face is none other than PKS #501 Snow Cuties, the background paper is Core'dinations layered with a gold paper from Holiday time that I purchased on clearance a couple years ago. The snow paper is from DCWV-Winter Magic paper pack. I added a couple of gems with my I-Rock and trimmed the bottom with some ribbon purchased at Hobby Lobby. That's it for now, back to work lots more cards to do.

Did want to add, sooo glad to be back in the fabulous crafting blogger world, have missed you all. Thanks for stopping by!!

Emboss Resist Technique

Happy Friday Everyone!! I tried a new technique today(new to me) it's a resist technique with ink and embossing. Pretty simply to do, choose a stamp you would like to incorporate in your card, stamp it with VersaMark and add embossing powder. Most of the ones I've seen have used clear embossing powder, but I had just gotten some Ranger Lemon Yellow and wanted to give it a try. So after applying embossing powder use heat gun and don't over heat. I switched up using the different Funny Flowers from Peachy Keen Stamps they're so sweet, now you just start sponging on different colored inks lightly, getting a blended look until your happy with the result. If you get some ink clinging to the embossed lines you can take a baby wipe or damp cloth and lightly go over it. Now you have a background paper to match your project. If you have any questions just drop me a line and I will help. Also if you have any tips on coloring a project let me know, this is my first time coloring an image. It's okay but I wish I could afford a few Copic markers. Will be entering this into the Peachy Keen Challenge #13 (Lets Face it Friday--Mother's Day). Thanks for stopping by!! Cindy

Birthday Stair Step Card

After seeing the Disney Center Piece over at Everyday Cricut I was inspired to pull out my Disney cartridge "Mickey and Friends"! This is my first attempt at making a Stair Step card and I love that you can add so much to one. This is only my seconded time using the Mickey cart, there are alot of layers to this cart. Make sure you use good paper, a sticky mat and correct speed and pressure. I kept loosing my tongue it was itty bitty and I did not have the correct face color so I used white cardstock and colored it in with Water color pencil (wish I had an Imagine). I love the Disney Characters, and I think Minnie turned out pretty good. You need to go over to Everyday Cricut and see the Fabulous Center peice with all the Alice in Wonderland characters, sooo cute and while you are there leave a comment, they are giving away an Imagine!! Hope everyone has a fabulous Friday and a crafty weekend!!

I Made a Funny!!

Okay peeps, I think it is funny, hopefully you will too!! Usually I make sincere cards, this just kind of happened and I liked it!! This is what it reads, on outside "The Easter Bunny seems to have left a present on your doorstep...." and on the inside it reads, "Feel free to use this card to clean it up, Happy Easter". I found this sentiment on a computer program I have "Scrapbook Factory", whenever I get stuck I use it for ideas and when I seen this I already had my card made and thought it fit.

Ingredients

  • Core Dinations & DCWV paper

  • Spellbinder-Scalloped Ovals Label

  • Cuttlebug Organic Borders

  • Cricut Cart-Simply charmed cut at 2.5

  • Trim-Hobby Lobby

A Simple Little Thank You Card

I love making Thank You cards, I think it brightens the receivers day and it gives me a reason to make another card!! This is made with no Cricut, oh my, that doesn't happen to often. Anyway the paper I used for the background is s-e-i and the rest of the papers are Core Dinations. I cut the label out with my Spellbinders and embossed it with a sizzix folder and I apologize because I do not know the name of it. I used my new Kinderstampo Say it in Type stamp set, let me tell you this is a fabulous set because you can say anything you want, so versatile. Ok on to the card, I used a couple Paper Studio flowers and layered them and added a button and just cut a couple leaves to tuck in behind. My trim came from Hobby Lobby and I finished it off with my I-Rock. Hope this inspires you to send out them Thank You cards and brightens someones day!!

I'm really hoping this is a better week, last week was different to say it nicely, and I did not get a chance to do much crafting or blogging. Ok here is hoping everyone has a fabulous crafty week!!

Getting Cricky Inspiration Card

This is a card I made for K Andrew's Simply Sunday Challenge at Getting Cricky. She has a challenge going on to make an Inspired Heart project (totally up to your interpretation) using any materials you want. My inspiration is I love to go outside and see nature, birds, flowers, etc. I found a hummingbird I have never cut on the Lyrical letters cart. It doesn't have any layers or shadows with it so I cut one in blue and one in black and offset them just a little bit, I also cut another one just in yellow so I could use the beak. The scroll came from the Home Accents cart and I used it for the stem of the flower. The Inspire stamp came from the KinderStampo new Grunchy Inspiration Line. Hope my card adds a little inspiration to your day. Hop on over to Getting Cricky and join the challenge!! Smile and have a fabulous day!

Cards made with some New Stamps!!!

Received my new stamps from KinderStampo this week!! I oredered 2 sets from her new release, I loved them sooo much I have ordered the 2 remaining sets!! These are some of the most versatile stamps sets I've seen and the quality is 2nd to none. Here is my first project I've made with my stamps. I used the Sweethearts Cart to cut the love birds and the gold banner. I used Papertrey Ink paper and Swiss Dot embossing folder. The sentiment is from the KinderStampo "Vintage Love" set. She has free shipping right now!!

The next card was done with the "Grunchy Inspiration" set. I used DCWV background paper added Papertrey Ink Dot paper. Cut a swirl from the Home Accent cart, and a little birdie from Create A Critter cart, added a flower and stamped my sentiments, embossed them with copper powder and added some ribbon. My leaves are just free handed cuts and inked. Hope you like them! Here are the Stamp sets I used, they're lots of stamps to a set.

Hope everyone has a glorious Sunday!!

A Thank You Card PKS Sketch Challenge #48

Peachy Keen Stamps is having a sketch challenge, and I wanted to try to work outside my comfort zone and use some pattern paper. I don't know why it is but I rarely use pattern paper and there is some beautiful paper out there. I kept it simple following the sketch and I'm somewhat satisfied with it. I used the Mirabelle Paper Studio paper stack for my card. I added some trim at the top and used a Martha Stewart scalloped punch and layered it with ribbon.
Well thats it for my challenge card, you still have until tomorrow morning if you want to do the Favorite Things Blog hop and be entered for my Elegant Cakes Cartridge, which I will announce the winner tomorrow morning!! Wishing everyone a fabulous Sunday evening!!

Hot Pink & Orange??

Crafting With Chirstina is having a challenge in which you must use Hot Pink, Orange and white. Ok I was totally stumped. I do not do well with color combos anyway, something I'm trying to learn, but still have a difficult time with. I decided on something simple for the challenge. I used the cuttlebug and embossed the white with a sizzix die, used my nestabilities and punched the label out with hot pink and orange. I also added 2 hot pink buttons and one orange and added some twine. Feel free to give me any advice you can with working with colors and color combinations, I can use the help! Thanks for stopping by!!

Spring Fold Card

Today is another first for me, a Spring Fold card. Not sure if I like it, there is no place to write a note unless you use the back side. I followed the directions from Splitcoast Stampers Tutorial. I used Core' dinations cardstock, and Core'dinations Whitewash for all except the pattern paper on the bottom strip and that is DCWV the Luxury Stack. My butterfly cut is from Home Accent cart, and I used my Spellbinders for my scalloped labels.

As you see my little bug wanted to be in on the pictures too!! He blends in quite nicely!! Will be entering this into the following challenges:

My Hubby's Birthday Card

Good morning everyone!! Did you notice, I have a new Scraproom companion, Mr. Cricut has come to stay with me and asked to be my model!!! So Excited, now I will have someone to listen to my ramblings and not give me any grief about it, he's sooo cute!!

So here he is displaying hubby's birthday card and loving it!! For the card I used Simply charmed for the fishing pole, the fishing vest came from Everyday Paper Dolls and the boots and the fishing net came from Camp Out, which I have had for a very long time and have never used. On the inside I used A Childs Year. I added twine to the fishing pole and the boots, made a hook from craft wire and used magic mesh for the net, lots of textures going on. Also I actually burned the edges of the gingham paper to give it that rustic look. Finished it off with a stamp from Papertrey Ink "Birthday Fishes" add a cute little black bow. On the inside I added another strip of the gingham paper attached my cut and stamped it with the Happy Birthday stamp from Stampin up!! And I will give this to my honey on Saturday!!
